Project Manager – Engineering

The Company: This specialist company in the construction sector offers a full or partial service to both commercial and domestic projects, ranging from roofs on multi-million rand developments to small house additions

Key Requirements:

Role Summary: A Project Manager responsible for the full lifecycle of roof structure and truss contracts, from initial design and estimation to project coordination and site management. This role involves significant client and stakeholder liaison, contributing directly to the company’s growth and future leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Estimation:
  • Perform estimating and design activities specifically for roof structures and roof truss contracts.
  • Utilize Mitek truss design software (Pamir) for design functions.
• Project Coordination & Management:
  • Manage and coordinate roof structure projects and contracts.
  • Oversee subcontract carpenters.
  • Liaise extensively with Architects, Engineers, and main contractors.
  • Communicate with general cash customers.
  • Conduct on-site measurement of roof dimensions.
  • Provide general assistance to project design teams as needed.
• Strategic & Growth Contribution:
  • Contribute to the company’s future growth and development.
  • Act as a “prime mover” to progress quickly into a very senior management role.
  • Assist in taking the business forward in the short to medium term.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Qualified Structural Engineer, preferably a PR.Eng.
• 5-10 years relevant experience in the construction industry.
• Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of the truss and roofing industry.
• Proficiency with Mitek truss design software (Pamir).
• Demonstrated ability in project coordination and management.
• Strong communication and liaison skills with various stakeholders (sub-contractors, architects, engineers, main contractors, customers).
• Ability to conduct accurate on-site measurements.
• Proactive mindset with a drive for progression and leadership.
